Telstra Deploys Calyptech’s Wireless Local Loop Interface Unit
MELBOURNE, Victoria – Calyptech today announced the delivery of their Wireless Local Loop Interface Unit (WLL-IU) solution to Telstra for deployment to their customers in remote rural Australia. The units have been custom designed and ruggedised to meet the technical challenges associated with delivering the full suite of Telstra’s services as well as the challenges associated with the extreme environments encountered in Rural Australia.
The WLL-IU is designed to interface to a Fixed Wireless Terminal, and drive long lines to customer premises. Advanced Digital Signal Processing technology is employed on the Interface Unit, to enhance the voice quality, and to ensure that the quality of service delivered to the customer is optimised.
Calyptech CEO John Maher was quoted as saying “Rural Australia presents enormous technical and environmental challenges. Telstra were unable to find an off-the-shelf solution to provide sufficient level of service to their remotely located customer base. The Calyptech Interface Unit is cable of driving long stretches of copper, delivering voice, circuit switched data, TTY services and enhances the customer experience.”
