Calyptech announces 40Gb/s SONET/SDH IP cores

Leading Design Solutions Company Calyptech of MelbourneAustralia announce the introduction of their new line of SONET/SDH cores targeted at 40Gb/s rates.

The first two cores introduced into the portfolio are an STS-768/STM-256 Framer and Data Aligner, and a parallel 256-bit Scrambler/Descrambler. The Framer and Data Aligner core accepts a 256-bit input from an SFI-5 deserializer, performs frame detection using a single-cycle search algorithm, and aligns the data to the correct byte and word boundaries. The aligned data is output from the core together with row and column counters and status signals. The Scrambler/Descrambler core contains an extremely efficient parallel implementation of the required SONET/SDH scrambler, resulting in very-low gate count and fast route speeds. Datasheets for both of these cores can be found on the Calyptech website.

Other cores currently under development for the product line include complete section and line overhead transmitters and receivers as well as B1/B2 byte generators and checkers. Future developments will include a pointer generator and processor along with complete path overhead processing cores.
